Nazara is a people's atlas: what you post is meant to be found on the map. This page says what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and how to take it all back. It is written to meet India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a password (stored only as a hash), or, if you sign in with Google, the name, email and profile photo Google shares with us.
- Your profile: the username, name, bio, photo and city you choose.
- What you post: moments, photos, sound recordings, stories, walks, lists, places, comments and likes, with the place each one is tied to. These are public.
- What you do privately: your saves, the places you mark as been there, your drafts, your notifications and your email choices. Only you can see these. Who you follow, and who follows you, shows on your profile.
- Your location, only when you ask for it: when you tap “near me” or locate yourself on the map, your browser shares your position for that search. We don't store it or track you. When you add a photo, its GPS tag may be read on your device to suggest a place; the photo is re-encoded before upload, so that tag never reaches us.
- Technical data: your IP address, used briefly to rate-limit requests and stop abuse, and server logs kept by our host for a short time.
- Visit counts: which page you opened, the site that sent you, your rough location (country and city, from your IP) and your device and browser type. We store a code made from your IP and browser that changes every day, not your IP itself, so we can count visitors without following anyone from one day to the next. If you're signed in, the visit is linked to your account.
We don't run ads, sell data, or use third-party analytics or tracking cookies; visit counts stay in our own database. Your sign-in session is kept in your browser's storage.
Why
To run your account and show what you post (the service you asked for), to keep Nazara safe from spam and abuse, and, only if you opt in, to email you the weekly digest or product news. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can change this anytime in Settings.
Who helps us run it
These services process data on our behalf, only to provide Nazara:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and photo storage
- Vercel: hosting
- Google: sign-in with Google, and place search and place photos
- Cloudflare Turnstile: telling people from bots at sign-in
- Resend: sending account and digest emails
- Sentry: error reports when something breaks, so we can fix it
- OpenFreeMap and Open-Meteo: map tiles and weather, loaded by your browser
Some of these store data outside India.
Your rights
- See and correct: your profile and posts are editable from your profile and Settings.
- Delete: Settings → Delete account removes your account, profile, posts, photos, sounds, comments, likes, saves and follows. Places you added to the map stay, without your name, because others' posts point to them.
- Withdraw consent to email at any time, from Settings or the link in any email.
- Ask or complain: write to hello@nazara.club. We answer within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it or your account. Backups that still hold deleted data roll off within 30 days. Rate-limit counters last a day or two and hold a scrambled code, not your IP; host logs, a few days.
Children
Nazara is for people 18 and over. If you think a child has an account, tell us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app before it takes effect.
